Spain: Anthony Edgmon is beginning a new series of messages on dealing with emotions on Sunday, September 7. The first message’s focus is overcoming depression. Pray for wisdom and clarity of thought as Anthony shares biblical truths on this timely subject.
France: Patsy Vanhook is scheduled for surgery on Monday, September 8, in France. Pray the surgeon will have a steady hand. Pray Patsy will have minimal pain and a quick recovery.
Brazil: Tom Hughes, former missionary to Brazil (1969-2005), recently learned he has an inherited disorder making the lungs more susceptible to damage and serious lung diseases. A CAT scan showed fibrosis of the lungs. Pray for strength and continued good health for Tom.
Panama: Eddie Bowerman had an accreditation meeting Tuesday, September 2, for the Bible institute in Chame. Although not a complete success, he was given permission to submit paperwork and continue work on other things that must be submitted. The Ministry of Education is changing requirements and will not allow evangelical groups to give any type of degree without accreditation. Pray for time to make necessary preparations for the paperwork and for everything to be sent in on time.
Uruguay: The Santa Teresa church in Rivera celebrated its 46th anniversary Saturday, August 30. Praise God for the lives changed as a result of the work being done in Rivera. Pray national Christians will continue to reach out to their community.
India: The monsoons in India have resulted in the worst flooding in 50 years. Thousands of people have evacuated, food is scarce, and epidemic disease is feared. Pray for the safety of the people in India and for Brother Carlisle as he remains until he receives final visa approval. Pray for opportunities to spread the gospel.
Cuba: Hurricane Gustav destroyed homes and caused damage to church buildings in Cuba. The province of Pinar del Rio, where Free Will Baptist work began, suffered the most significant damage. Pray for the people as they begin to clean up. Pray this will be an opportunity for church members to help those in the community.
